Role Purpose/Business Unit:
The candidate will be required to lead a team of Portfolio managers, supported by product managers and product specialists responsible for;
The product lifecycle management and revenue optimisation of the existing portfolio of Products & Services related to data, sms, international and roaming services.
The commercial execution of new products and services that will have an impact on future and existing revenue and cost lines.
Development of Vodacom’s product roadmap across segments.
Your responsibilities will include:
To be responsible for leading and managing a team of portfolio managers, product managers and product specialists towards meeting the set objectives.
To work with Project Management and all other impacted parties to develop and launch new products and services as per the approved product definitions.
To co-ordinate and drive of all activities related to product approval, development, product enhancements, product integration and go-to- market strategy to ensure that the strategy achieves the set objectives of i.e. profit growth and expansion of market share.
To be responsible for setting of KPA/KPOs and revenue and other operational targets for Portfolio Managers as well as for performance reviews.
To keep abreast of all regulatory, technology and market developments
To continually analyse competitor’s offers
To work with Vodafone and other strategic partners to introduce new products and services and related best practices.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
A relevant 3 year degree or tertiary qualification equivalent to at least a 3 year technical or commercial degree with marketing and/or product development relevance essential and
A minimum of 8 to 10 years relevant experience in Product Management with a proven track record in Telecommunications, IT or related.
Inclusive of a minimum of (4) four year’s management or leadership experience essential
Job Knowledge:
Thorough understanding of overall ICT market and related concepts and technologies with specific focus on mobile.
Specific understanding of the Vodacom business related to structure, business models, technologies and business processes.
Thorough understanding of New Product Development methodologies processes and best practices.
Thorough understanding of Product Lifecycle Management methodologies processes and best practices.
Good understanding of fundamentals of Marketing including but not limited to market research, advertising, demand creation, segmentation, market mix, positioning and targeting.
Job Related Skills:
Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)
Organisational and planning ability.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to form & manage relationships at all levels within both internally and externally (customers and industry).
Exceptional data manipulation and analysis techniques
Flexibility, problem solving and dealing with ambiguity
